Richmond High School for the Arts is proud to support students pursuing the Virginia Board of Education’s Seal of Biliteracy. Testing will take place on Tuesday, April 22 and Wednesday, April 23, 2025.
What is the Seal of Biliteracy?
The Seal of Biliteracy is an official recognition awarded to graduating students who demonstrate proficiency in English and at least one other language. This recognition is not only a celebration of language skills but also a strong indicator of college and career readiness, and global citizenship.
Why Take the Test?
Students who qualify may earn world language credits and receive the Seal of Biliteracy on their diploma. This award certifies:
-
Proficiency in English through End-of-Course Assessments in reading and writing
-
Proficiency at the intermediate-mid level or higher in another language, demonstrated through an approved language assessment
Languages may include world languages such as Spanish, French, Chinese, and American Sign Language.
Who Should Register?
Any student who can speak, read, and write in a language other than English and is interested in earning the Seal of Biliteracy or language credits is encouraged to sign up.
How to Register:
Students may register by completing the form at the link below:

On April 9th, our LadyDawgz officially kicked off their season against Thomas Jefferson—and what a way to start!
After a tough first half, Ashaney “BigDawg” Smith came up clutch with the first interception of the season, turning the momentum in our favor. Not long after, quarterback Chelsea Staye connected with Ashaney again—this time for the first touchdown in school history!
The defense held strong, and Saniya Seymour broke away for a long run into the end zone, putting us up 13-0. Though Thomas Jefferson managed to score with just 16 seconds left on the clock, your RHSA Girls Flag Football Team secured a historic 13-6 victory—our first ever win!
Shoutout to Thomas Jefferson for an intense and competitive game, but even bigger props to our LadyDawgz who showed heart, hustle, and teamwork from start to finish.
If you see these athletes in the halls, make sure to congratulate them on making RHSA history!
Here’s to many more wins to come!
The RHSA Bulldogs Swim Team made waves at the RPS Championships, bringing home the 2nd place trophy after an incredible season with a 27-5 record (Men’s: 13-3, Women’s: 14-2). Our athletes showed outstanding growth, teamwork, and sportsmanship, making RHSA the loudest and most supportive team at the meet!
Congratulations to all our swimmers for their dedication and perseverance! If you see them in school, be sure to celebrate their achievements. Stop by the Men’s PE Office to check out our new trophy!
Go Bulldogs!
