Update on ribbon-cutting and student schedule pick-up: Please read!

Posted Date: 08/20/26 (01:06 PM)

Good afternoon! Tonight’s weather forecast calls for a strong chance of rain after 5 p.m. so, after careful consideration and conversations with the RHSA team, we have decided to postpone the official ribbon-cutting ceremony until a later date, when we can all gather and celebrate safely. At that time, we will also be able to offer comprehensive tours to the public.

To support students’ transition into the new building, we will still open the school building for schedule pick-ups between 4 and 5:30. Students and their families are strongly encouraged to come by at this time. We will no longer have shuttle transportation; all families are encouraged to park on site, on either the Midlothian side or the lot at the old RHSA building. If you choose to bring a bag, please ensure that it is compliant with RPS’ clear bag policy.

Schools are for our students, and we are so excited for you all to fill our halls over the coming week! We look forward to sharing more of this beautiful building with the broader Richmond community very soon.
