Parent Portal

In our continuing efforts to enhance communication with students and their families, Richmond Public Schools provides the Aspen Online Family Information Portal. The portal provides you with timely, relevant, and easily accessible information about your student’s education. 

You will be able to review your child’s Student Detail by Question (SDBQ) Report for each test completed, and, in most cases, you will be able to view a personalized video that accompanies the SDBQ Report for your child. This is a customized video that provides an overview of the SDBQ report, explains specific details from your child’s SDBQ report, and directs you to resources on the Virginia Department of Education’s website ( to assist with your child's academic needs. 

Your account contains information and confidential information about your child including access to Grades, Attendance, Assignments, and Access to Virginia’s Parent Portal to retrieve SOL results. Protect your login information as you would any other personal account for the security of your child's data.  

Login credentials are provided by your student’s school. Please reach out to the main office if you need your credentials.

Please follow the instructions provided by your school to access your account: 

  • Go to

  • Enter the login ID and password listed for your account. 

  • The first time you log in you will be prompted to create a new password and set up your security preferences.  This information will be used if you forget your password, and need to have the password reset.

  • In the future, if you forget your password, you can click “I forgot my password” on the login screen to get a new one by email. Be aware that after three failed login attempts, your account will be disabled and you’ll need to request technical support. 

Once the account is activated and you have logged in, You will have access to the following: 

  • Family: All of your students will be listed here. Contact your student’s school if the list contains errors. Select the side tabs to view student details, contacts, and attendance, etc. Please review this information for accuracy and notify the school's main office if there is an error. 

  • Academics: On this tab, you can view the student’s current schedule and grades.  Select a course to view the details of the course. 

  • Help: If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your student’s school.  For details on the features and use of the portal, select Family Portal under help. 

  • Important documents: To access the VVAAS report or any other reports in the future that have been published to the Parent Portal, log into Aspen and review the Published Reports widget for any listed reports. Click on the filename of the report to download and review it.

  • Claim Code: To access Claim Codes for the Virginia Department of Education’s Parent Portal, in Aspen > click on the Family top tab > click on the name of your student which will pull up the Details side tab. The Claim Code field is listed under the Homeroom on the right side.
